Costa Rica Finca Desamparados

We have another coffee from Finca Desamparados to share with you! This is our second coffee from this producer in the West Valley of Costa Rica and we are loving it this time of year. 

Jhonnathan is a descendant of one of the first ever coffee growers in Costa Rica and he is very passionate about his family business and coffee growing. He works full time as a doctor and still maintains his family farm and has done a lot of improving and changing of his family’s coffee growing operation over the last decade.  

This coffee is a Yellow Honey process style. After coffee is picked it’s run through a de-pulping machine to remove the skin then the fruit and beans are set out to dry over several days and turned. This processing technique results in distinct coffee flavors in the cup like a heavier body, more sweetness, and brighter acidity. Paired with the Milenio variety that we also had last time we bought coffee from Finca Desamparados, this coffee is complex, sweet, and generally a crowd pleaser.
